New Saxophone

Last school year I broke a post on my saxophone that holds on one of the key guards. It wasn’t a big deal so I just left it broken until this summer arrived. I decided should get this taken care of before my warranty goes out. So, I call Woodwind and Brasswind, an internet retailer for instruments and the like, and get everything ready. They tell me the saxophone must be insured or else they wont receive it. Off I go to the UPS store. I come skipping in to find it will cost me over a hundred dollars to ship and insure the sax. I decided it would be worth the investment to have my sax (a Selmer reference 54) in top condition. So I sent my sax away 6 weeks ago to this day. Yesterday, a large box arrives on my door. I jump in glee. I pull it in and run up to my room and shred the box to pieces. At first glance I discover the case i sent my sax back in is no longer scratched (scratches way to easily). My heart jumps. I open the zipper and find my baby wrapped in plastic, just as I remember unwrapping my new sax one year earlier. I pull off the wrap and notice the guard is correctly attached. I also notice the few scratches that once were on the body of the horn are no longer. I notice it comes with a new mouthpiece, just as my first sax did. I get to the serial number and compair it with what I recorded from my first sax. The one they sent me is 12 thosand newer than my previous sax. They sent me a brand new saxophone! I’m pretty excited and am confused why WWBW would sent me a new horn instead of repair the old one. I don’t really care though because I now have a brand new horn to play with.
